I'm Rachel Miller, President of Tom Sawyer Entertainment, and I am very excited to share my insider Hollywood knowledge with you. I launched Tom Sawyer Entertainment (TSE) in February 2006 with my partner-in-crime Jesse Hara, and we represent writers and directors of feature films and television. From the beginning TSE's mission has been to find young, innovative voices and groom them as the next generation of Hollywood storytellers. Soon after launching TSE, we set up several projects with Sydney Kimmel Entertainment, Sony Television, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox, and we worked with top-tier producers Tom Werner (The Cosby Show, Rosanne) and Mark Gordon (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, Grey's Anatomy). We have also expanded our roster to include animation, digital media, publishing and comic book talent. My own journey in the film business started when I was 16 years old and first met producer Debra Hill (HALLOWEEN, FISHER KING, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK). I went to college at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where I majored in Film and Television Production and worked with Tisch and NYU's Leonard M. Stern School of Business to develop a joint undergraduate producing certificate program for future students. As soon as I graduated Tisch I came back to my hometown of LA and worked as an assistant at Endeavor talent agency in the motion picture lit and sales department on such films as NORTHFORK and STEP INTO LIQUID. From there I worked at management company Handprint Entertainment with artists such as Mariah Carey, Brandy, Tyra Banks, and Kyra Sedgwick. And to finish off paying my dues, I worked at Red Wagon Entertainment (GLADIATOR, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, BEWITCHED, JARHEAD, SPY GAME) on the Sony lot. Then I went on to start Tom Sawyer Entertainment. An early version of ShowMeTheReel.com was developed for TSE's clients. The concept was so effective that I realized this technology could benefit many people and help them succeed in their own entertainment industry careers. And after seeing TSE and my clients succeed, I realized I had accumulated years of insider knowledge and had developed proprietary technology which could help many more people than just my clients. I'm pleased to introduce ShowMeTheReel.com, to help guide creative talent to successful careers in the entertainment business. |
